- Gabriel Keney
Gabriel Keney is an educational research evaluation professional committed to advancing equitable education and innovative approaches to learning and doing evaluation. He possess advanced knowledge in educational research methodology, policy, assessment, and evaluation with demonstrated leadership skills in effective program management and quality assurance supervision. His research and evaluation career began with him earning a BA in Goegraphy and Sociology from the University of Cape Coast, a certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and a MS in Monitoring and Evaluation from Christian Service University College (CSUC).
Prior to pursuing his doctorate, he was a Principal Research Assistant for the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (DAPQA) within the University of Cape Coast. There, he designed and conducted multiple mixed-method studies primarily focused on enhancing academic quality management systems, improving the learning experiences of students and institutional effectiveness. He also has experience as an independent consultant, leading various mixed-method assessments and evaluations in West Africa and the United States of America.
Presently, Gabriel is a Graduate Student Evaluator in the STEM Program Evaluation Lab at University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he collaborates with other evaluators and stakeholders to evaluate National Science Foundation and local educational projects focused on improving STEM education programs for all students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. He is currently finishing a doctorate in Program Evaluation from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA.
Gabriel actively engages in his field through volunteer roles, such as reviewing proposals for the African Evaluation Association and American Evaluation Association (AEA), Emergent Voices in Evaluation conferences and leads committees for evaluation conferences and initiatives. Gabriel co-founded the EvalYouth Ghana Chapter and contributes to evaluation forums such as the World Evaluation Case Competition (2020-2021), GMEF and AfrEA YEE. He is currently a member of the American Evaluation Association’s Student Evaluation Case Competition Working Group.
