Youth empowerment and skills development

To afford young people the opportunity to identify, grow and optimize their talents and capabilities in friendly and a trustworthy and sustainable environment. The Hub will cover the following subcomponents:

  • Science, technology and innovation: Capacity building and practical STEM activities that will help young people create their own jobs or improve their employability.
  • Environmental stewardship, climate change mitigation and adaptation: To promote mindset change, build capacity, provide access to tools and technologies, and reorient young men and women to become good stewards of the environment and empower them to serve as climate change ambassadors.
  • Nutritional security and youth health awareness: Strategic and innovative activities to make young people health conscious and to improve their access to safe, affordable, and nutritious diets, and quality and timely health care.
  • Good governance and community development: Strategies to empower young people to be actively involved in national development discourse and actions. It will also equip young men and women with the capacity to actively participate in the development processes at the community, national and global levels. The Hub will prioritise support for inclusion and effective participation of young people in decision making activities at all levels.
Food security and livelihoods enhancement

This component seeks to promote innovative agri-food stakeholder engagement and capacity building activities along the entire value chain of di erent crops and animals to enhance productivity and profitability of farming enterprises and improve the livelihoods of famers, farmer groups and their households in a sustainable manner. This aspect of the Hub’s action is aimed to incentivise young men and women to consider agriculture as a viable and profitable profession. This component will facilitate integration of technology and support hands-on training on best agronomic, post-harvest management including processing and marketing skills.

Information Communication Technology for Development

This component is focused on promoting the supporting the effective use of ICT infrastructure to support service delivery at the decentralized levels. It also seeks to build the capacity of individuals in the design, deployment and use of tech-enabled tools, approaches, and methodologies to enhance the opportunity for job creation and effective delivery and impact of Government projects and programmes.

Monitoring , Evaluation and Knowledge Management

This component is focused on strengthening the capacity of public private and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the generation and use of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to improve the design and impact of their interventions. It will provide fit-for-purpose and hands-on support that will enable clients to improve their M&E and Knowledge Management systems, including equipping their staff with practical skills and competencies as well as working with them to develop and operationalize relevant monitoring, evaluation and learning tools and processes. The component will support clients to develop and leverage existing platforms and spaces for inclusive knowledge sharing and ideas sourcing. It will also provide a “walk-in” lab that will afford the clients opportunity for face-to-face technical and advisory support.
